Best Smartphone Deal, Hands Down!

I’ve had a smartphone from Republic Wireless for 2 or 3 years. Unlimited minutes/texts/data, no contract. My bills are less than $15 dollars a month.

You have to buy a phone from them directly (or perhaps off eBay), but the price is reasonable.

Consumer Reports recently gave them a Best Buy rating. They run on the Sprint network, but are hinting that they may follow Google’s lead and add connectivity to T-Mobile’s network also.

Genuine Bargain: IHG Points for About $1 per Thousand

International Hotel Group (IHG) is the second-largest hotel chain in the world, with brands including Holiday Inn, Crowne Plaza and Intercontinental. They have a promotion where you get at least 500 IHG points for every handwritten entry that you mail in. So, that’s 500 points for a 49 cent stamp plus about 3 minutes handwriting your name, address, phone number, etc.

Rooms at IHG hotels typically go for 10 thousand to 20 thousand points per night, or (in this case) $20 to $40 worth of stamps. However, from time to time IHG’s PointBreaks promotion offers rooms for only 5000 points ($10/night).

Information is at

Remember, you must create an IHG account and sign up for the promotion before you mail in your entries. And the promotion ends March 15, 2016.
